KANYE WEST = POWER PREVIEW

It would be good to see what the final outcome is but judging from this image masterclass Kanye is gonna fuck shit up when his new album drops. According to Kanye "it's not a video it's a painting" which he entrusted Marco Brambilla to create. If you've seen any of Brambrillas works you'll know that his shit ain't nothhing to eff with. A combination of art and film Brambillas video collages are something else and judging from the "Power" preview when the whole video is launched in it's entirety it's gonna blow minds.

This is the video which inspired Kanye to want to work with Brambilla.

Whats blue-tac's other name....

....smurf poo!!

Cue hysterical 6 year olds, belling up all over the playground floor.

The Smurfs are coming to a screen near you in a whole years time, and yet the movie hype juggernaught is already in motion!

When I was about 6, Smurfette used to give me a junior woody.

Now that I'm older tho, I realise a cute blonde, who is completely blue is either a Hindu Deity, or a strangulation victim, either way, probably best not to attempt to tap that.

I felt a tingle in my funny bone...

...when i watched this trailer.

Poor old Michael, he is the definition of a type-casted actor but he play's likeable geeky kid so well.

It's not as believable now that he's just turned 46 and has 3 ex wives, and 7 kids, but still, thats why it's called 'acting'.

This will no doubt will be a big hit this summer, it looks hilarious, charming and witty, and most importantly to all of those popcorn munchers out there, familiar territory.

Geek kid in love? Check!

Vixen who kicks arse? Check!

Super hero parodies, and post modern jokes on technology? Yup!

It should be as fully charming as it looks, and every one will love it forever and ever!

Tron Legacy

All my 80's babies should be familiar with 'Tron', the first film to ever use computer graphics extensively. I watched it quite a few times growing up & when I saw the teaser trailer for the sequel back in the summer...I felt like a 5 year old again!

Cant bloody wait mate!

Is it bad that i think that Alices looks super bangable in this?!

New trailer, Tim Burton is a genius, Disney films always come with the fire, and Johnny Depp is an overacting weirdo badman actor.

I hope and pray that this film is as good it looks, and is hyped up to be.

Back for the first time...

Ok, so I guess before we go any further, thanks for all the love the column received last week, reading all those emails and comments made me feel all warm and tingly inside...

OR maybe that’s just the Irritable Bowel Syndrome playing up again.

Press play:

So walking through the underground station the other day, dodging mice, escalators that want to eat my jeans, and über fat brers, who want to suffocate me with there dhutty-sweaty armpits, I spotted a poster for the new Gorillaz single.

The Gorilaz dropping a new single, is exciting enough for us as it is, but when we see that it features Rare Groove legend Bobby Womack, and the illest MC in the game (well definitely in my top 5 anyway) in the shape of Mos Def, then we walk funny, cos our jeans have suddenly got
a little too snug in the y-fronts region!!

This tune's too BOXFRESH for a video as yet, but nonetheless, that filthy deep bassline, and soulful warblings of Lord Womack make us want to don our red leather fingerless gloves, and start rocking some serious body popping moves on a street corner somewhere.

Talking of emotionally draining, severally intense films about race, abuse and violence….(we weren’t talking about it, but we are now!), last Friday saw the cinema release of the hotly anticipated film Precious.

It follows an Obese African American girl, Precious (played excellently by Gabourey Sidibe), who is pregnant with her second child, as she struggles to find her way in life as a woman, and as a mother, and out of an abusive household.

The cameos by the excellent Mariah Carey, and Lenny Kravitz feel a little out of place at first, but they are both give wicked performances, as is Mo'nique's, who switches from being a complete
tyrannical monster bitch, to blubbering, pitiful victim within a couple of frames of film. Deep stuff.

As emotionally manipulative as it may feel at times, it’s completely worth the experience, as you’ll walk out of the film feeling as spiritually clean as a new born baby.

Definitely an eye opener it really made me think about those less fortunate than ourselves and especially those suffering in Haiti right now. Please find a reputable charity, and donate all that you can afford to the relief effort, suddenly those new box fresh Reebok Pumps don’t feel as important after watching the news do they?

For more cultural forward thinking, it us again around the same time next week, and remember kids, always wear a condom!

Hello Culture!

Press play before on this video before you read any further…..

Done? Fantastic, then let me begin

Here at PNB we’re all about exploring new territories and experiencing the new...

So the all powerful Wizards of Oz, Motive & Merrick have decided to bestow upon you, a new regular culture section for the blog...

In which we depart from the standard formula for blogs of posting a picture of something shiny and then telling everyone a whole two words of aimless opinion on it & instead deliver some actual useful stuff, that you’ll want to read/watch/research into a little further.

The track you hear playing in the background right now is  Theophilus London’s new ridim ‘Humdrum Town”. It’s good init?! Early 90’s fashion styling, 80’s pop, slick Hip Hop bars, and a bit of eeeeeemotional singing on the top makes for an Indie Hip Hop sound that we can all fuck with!

Anyway, apparently good old Theophilus is creating quite a following in his native New York, and US, and is scheduled to hit the UK pretty soon for some live dates after he touched down @ YoYo last year. Youtube his ‘Always Love You’ video with Whitney, he looks like he knows how to smash a live show.!

All of us here @ PNB know a cult classic movie when we see one, especially if it includes a few troublesome sub-titles (La Haine, City of God and Battle Royale for example) So we’re all very excited at the arrival of the new French film ‘The Prophet’, which has a limited cinema release across the UK. Before I say anything else, just watch the trailer:

I don’t think I need to say much more, if this was an English language film, you would have all already gone and seen it, so excited, that you needed your pop corn boxes to cover your cinematic-violence induced boners!!
But it’s French so most plebs won’t bother, so you dudes get to see it, love it, make it a cult classic before these lames get to know Wha Gwan! And in two years time, when it comes on BBC2 at 1am in the morning, and everyone see’s and loves it, you can tell em how late they are!

Don’t you just love that feeling!!!
